Next Door at The Plough

An extension to a hugely successful pub, to add new first floor space and add extra covers to the ground floor restaurant.

A project to create private dining rooms and meeting rooms, as well as expand the existing eclectic offering.

The Need

This was about making the best better. The Plough was incredibly successful, with help from our original design, that made it possibly the best pub in Birmingham. The owner saw potential for expansion, to increase floor space and diversify the offering with new rooms and a new menu by utilising the adjacent building.

The Solution

Next Door at The Plough was our chance to add to a place we loved. We worked closely with the owner to think of new possibilities for the pub and realise some exceptional additions.
We renovated the ground floor to house a new pizza kitchen and bar that would add an additional 40 covers and showcase the growing global selection of rare and artisan whiskies and craft beers, while the new first floor extension is home to two private dining rooms, which function as fully-equipped, design-conscious meeting rooms that can be opened up to cater for larger events.
These rooms offer Wi-Fi, large flat TV screens and private audio systems. The rooms can be opened up to host up to 60 people standing. To compliment we designed seven sharing menus, each for up to 18 people.
The new extension flows effortlessly from the original building, but has brought a new more grown up and elegant space to the overall offering. We designed to complement The Plough’s trademark eclectic design, but added some serious innovation too.
